Our programs include:

 

National Tropical Weather Conference— our hurricane preparedness program for media and business,  draws participants from across the United States.  The program features the nation’s best tropical weather experts and researchers.  This conference draws national media coverage and is scheduled each year at South Padre Island, Texas.

 

Discovery Island—our ocean science outreach program. This highly successful program is produced in collaboration with the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas and the the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi, Texas.

 

Amazing Skies— our most successful space science program is produced in collaboration with the Witte Museum, San Antonio, Texas and the International Museum of Art and Science, McAllen, Texas.  This outreach programs has drawn nearly 2000 attendees.  We work with the Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas to provide astronauts for this program.

 

StormFury— our weather science program is produced with the collaboration of the Witte Museum, San Antonio, Texas, the University of Texas Brownsville and the Texas State Technical Institute, Harlingen, Texas.  An exciting part of this program is the inclusion of Discovery Channel, storm chaser Tim Baker.

Acceleration—our physics/speed program is another highly successful program.  The program is produced in collaboration with the Texas State Technical Institute in Harlingen, Texas.

This regionwide event is designed to educate Rio Grande Valley residents about the risks, dangers, and action to take before, during and after a hurricane.  The Rio Grande Valley Hurricane Ready Expo will take place on the South Texas College Mid-Valley campus.  It will include exhibits, presentations, information booths.
